A not so colorful world. -kaylee meyers

When Montag is running away from the city after just killing Beatty and destroying the hound, he is able to hear and see what all the news is saying by looking in people's windows of their houses. The news is able to track Montag through a new hound and helicopters. It's telling the people that he is a wanted man and to go look out their doors on the count of ten. While Montag is running he is imagining all of the people getting up out of their sleepy dazes and doing exactly what the people on TV are telling them to do because they are able to truly think for themselves. He imagined them going to their doors opening the doors and having thousands of Faces look out into alleys, streets, yards, and into the sky. All peering out to look for him and all of them the shade of gray. They were hidden behind masks and curtains almost with their colorless eyes and numb expressions as they did as they were told. It just amazes me how these people can go through the day just watching television and not really caring what goes on in the rest of society. They have no life to them. They just go through the motions without really thinking of their lives and what they are doing. They have no color to them or livelihood so the world around them is just as gray as they are.

  1. I agree with what Kaylee says. People shouldn't be just doing what they are told throughout the day, everyday. The people need personalities and not just be like a robot run by the government. This is a very grey society just like how its described in the book. I believe that people should be able to be many different colors just like a rainbow is. It seems like these people are in a black and white T.V. and can not get out or they don't realize they can get out. This way of life would be very dull and boring, just like the color grey.

  2. I agree with Kaylee's post. All throughout the book we can see that no one has any life to them. They go through everyday the same. The people never think about what they are doing because they are so used to doing it the same way. It seems to me that everyone is scared to step out and be an induviual. Instead of being known for be an unique person, everyone goes on day by day never changing their habits. The people have no life or color to them. The town that they live in almost resembles the color gray. To us gray means boring, lifeless, and dull. At the end of the book, Montag seems to be bringing color into his life. He finally has found somthing and people that make him happy. Also, around these people he can be himself and not half to hide the fact that he is different and the person that is not afraid to step out.

  3. I agree with you Kaylee. I kind of think that some of the people might have an idea of whats goin on with the book. I think they just are scared of saying anything because they have seen what happens to the other people that have a life and have caught on. Like Montag who is being chased by the goverment and everyone. Clarisee who has disapperead and Montag thinks she has been killed. So when they see that they just do whats right to not die. So thats why they spend all day watching tv, and i think there is a reason for the big tv's.I think that since they have nothing else to spend there money on they spend it on entertainment. I mean if you think about it they cant spend it on learning or anything so they spend it on big tv's. so thats why i think everyone has no life and really big tv's.
