Golding: "It seems to be the dilemma we are faced with that, on the whole, the politician is likely to be a Jack, and, at best, a Ralph--never a Simon."

Jack was more of a leader that wanted his followers to basically cater to HIS will not the other way around and he was able to have people blindly follow him into savagery and he would be compared to Joseph Stalin the communistic dictator of Soviet Russia who would kill his own people for not doing what he wanted. The opposite in characteristics would be past president John F. Kennedy who focused on the people and gave them mostly what they wanted but also stood up to those who were prone to savagery in a way. Ralph would be Kennedy in Lord of the Flies because he was a leader that catered to the people's best intrests even if they threw them away at one point or another. Simon would give his life for the people and would give them whatever they wished for in order to please them in turn only having them virtually dispise him. Simon would be easily compared to President Obama in the way the Obama is catering to the people's every whim and not their best intrests and when things go sour they ultimately end up critisizing him or dispising him.
