I think that the biggest mistake made by the group in The Lord of the Flies was listening to and letting Jack become their new leader. Ralph was very smart and really cared about all of the people’s feelings. Ralph cared about all the important things which could have eventually led to a rescue like the fire. By letting Jack become their new leader all they thought about was meat and hunting, neither would help them be rescued. If they would have listened to Ralph and let him be the leader I believe they would have been rescued way earlier then they were with Jack in charge. The boys made a bad decision by letting Jack rule and in the end it hurt them with people being killed and treated badly.

I agree with jack. I think that if they would have listened to Ralph and his perspectives they would have been rescued earlier than they did. I think both boy groups, jack and Ralph, had good intentions and they both thought they were right. Jack had the right idea about getting food and surviving, and Ralph had the idea of always having fire and shelter to finally get rescued. I just wish they wouldn’t of lost themselves within the book and the forgetfulness of civilization. If Jack would have kept control over all the boys with his good intentions, I believe nobody would have gotten killed or hurt. Ralph should have had more authority and demanded the boys more. Therefore, they would have stayed in the right state of mind and not have gone crazy. Jack just wanted to have fun to just keep the boys interested and not scared. But he thought too much and his imagination took it too far. Ralph should have stepped in and laid down rules at the first sign of savagery. If he would have done this, I don’t think any of the un-civilization activity would have happened. Overall, the suspense of the book was fantastic and it kept me thinking. I just thought of some ways Ralph could have kept them from going crazy

I agree with Jack. I think that Jack becoming the cheif was one of the worst mistakes that could have happened on the island. Jack centered his life around hunting and didn't care what happened to anyone else. Jack was the reason the boys didn't get rescued earlier. Ralph was a good cheif that respected everyone. Jack was self centered. If Ralph would have stayed cheif there would have been more civilization and a better system of order.

ReplyDeleteI agree after Jack became the new leader more died and all the cared about was hunting. They didnt let their fear take over but the others feared the because they became savage. I think if he wouldnt of became leader and never killed a pig noone would of died and they would be fine, but civilation is gone and everyone goes crazy. Roger on the other hand has always wanted to be evil because he becomes the tourture master and the boys are more afraid of him them Jack at some point.
